Roaster's Notes Yirgacheffe has tea-like mouth feel with dense acidity and vibrant sweetness. The blackberry and bergamot aromas shine through and are a classic characteristic of coffees from the Yirgacheffe region.
A bit about the ECX These Ethiopian beans are specialty beans that come to us via the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers’ Cooperative Union and traded in the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX), through which most of the country’s coffee is traded. The ECX was introduced in 2008 and is generally attributed to Eleni Zaude Gabre-Madhin, an Ethiopian economist. There is a general consensus that the ECX has proved successful in improving the lives of coffee farmers and making information about prices more accessible to farmers; however, stakeholders agree that there are still ways to improve the centralized system, including improving farm traceability, cupping capacity, and international market access.
